TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In the attempt to promote tourism in Lombok, tourism actors in Gili Trawangan, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), will hold the 2018 Gili Strong Triathlon event, on December 22.

“The sports tourism event that combines marathon running, swimming and cycling, is intended to support the rise of NTB's tourism,” said the 2018 Gili Strong Triathlon committee chairman, Acok Zani Bassok, in Mataram, Monday, December 10.

The entrepreneurs who are members of the Gili Trawangan Entrepreneur Association (APGT) are working with Gili Hotel Association and Gili Eco Trust, to hold the 2018 Gili Strong Triathlon.

“We hope that this effort will be fruitful so that the tourism business in NTB will develop again,” said Acok.

The Warna Hotel Bar and Restaurant Trawangan general manager Ricky Rikardus explained that in the event, the participants would run 7 kilometers, swim 600 meters, and cycle 5 kilometers. Ricky who is also the treasurer of the committee said the racetrack would be on Gili Trawangan.

“In addition to competing in sports, participants can also enjoy the beauty of Gili Trawangan. In this event, there are also a number of culinary booths for the tourists,” he said.

There will also be performances of a number of distinctive art and cultural attractions at the 2018 Gili Strong Triathlon in Lombok. Currently, tourism actors are finalizing the plan for the event.
