TEMPO.CO, Glasgow - Holiday is coming and you can list Glasgow as the place worth visiting to enjoy a year-end vacation abroad. There are a lot of interesting places in this city where you can take some pictures for your memento.


Known as an industrial city and shipyard, Glasgow is also a favorite destination besides Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland.


As a city that has stood for hundreds of years, Glasgow is a home to various interesting tourist locations which are Instagramable. Check out the list:


1. Glasgow Necropolis




Glasgow Necropolis is a burial site for the Victorian community located in the east of Glasgow Cathedral. As many as 50,000 bodies were buried in here.


This cemetery was built by the Merchant House since 1650 and became part of the Wester Craigs housing. Since 1960, the Merchant House has handed over the management of the cemetery to Glasgow City Council.


2. Glasgow City Chambers


Located in the City Center, the building that was built in 1888 was the governmental center of Glasgow City Council for hundreds of years. It is a symbol of the welfare of Glasgow.



This building operates from 08:30 to 05:00 local time from Monday to Friday. The tour around this building is held twice a day at 10:30 and 14:30 local time.


3. Ashton Lane


Ashton Lane is a street where bars and pubs in the West End region of Glasgow operate. It is located just a five-minute walk from the University of Glasgow. In this street also stood The Grosvenor, a legendary cinema that was built in 1921.



4. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum


Trip Advisor ranks this museum at the top of the place to be visited in Glasgow. The museum is surrounded by Kelvingrove Park and is a place for a collection of various hundreds of years old artifacts. Kelvingrove Museum is located at opposite the University of Glasgow.



5. The Cloisters University of Glasgow


One of the icons of the city is the University of Glasgow. Located behind the main building of the campus, The Cloisters is often said to be one of the inspirations of Hogwarts; The School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the magical world of Harry Potter. It is also the location for filming the Cloud Atlas and Outlander.



6. Royal Exchange Square


The Royal Exchange Square, which was built since 1778, is located in the center of Glasgow, between the intersection of Buchanan Street and Queen Street. Initially, it was built by William Cuninghame, a cigarette businessman in Scotland. But in 1817, it was taken over by the Royal Bank of Scotland. In 1996, the building functioned as the Gallery of Modern Art.


7. Buchanan Street




Buchanan Street is a shopping center in the city of Glasgow. This road connects Sauchiehall Street and St. Enoch Square. It is also often become the location of street shows for Glasgow musicians and artists.
