TEMPO.CO, Denpasar - Bali airport, I Gusti Ngurah Rai, recorded 5.2 million foreign tourists visited the island throughout January-October. The number increased by 6.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

Chinese tourists are still the largest visitor in Bali, contributing 23.47% of the total visit. In the second and third place, it is occupied by Australia and India, at 991,032 and 293,300 tourists, respectively.

“The tourist visit keeps increasing every month. Until October, the increase is recorded at 6.58% compared to last year. The visit of Chinese tourists once declined but still dominated, followed by Australia and India,” said General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Yanus Suprayogi, Friday, November 16.

Based on the data, from January to October, tourist visit from several countries included in the top 10 countries was increased compared to last year. One of them that increased significantly was the United States, which increased by 50.83% or 6,653 tourists.

“Big events held in October, especially the 2018 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings and 2018 Our Ocean Conference, was the factor that contributes the increase of foreign tourists, even though October is not included as the peak season,” Yanus said.

Bali is still facing the low season; the increase is expected to continue until December. Yanus is optimistic that the tourist arrivals through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport will reach 6.27 million people in accordance with the target announced by the Ministry of Tourism.
