TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice presidential hopeful Ma’ruf Amin said the join of Yusril Ihza Mahendra as the attorney of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin campaign team would automatically direct support of the Crescent Star Party (PBB) to the candidate number 01 in the 2019 election.

“I believe [PBB will support us]. Yusril has joined us. He is the general chairman of PBB and so I think he has a huge influence,” said Ma’ruf Amin in his Menteng residence, Central Jakarta today, November 7.

Yusril has officially become the attorney of Jokowi-Ma’ruf on Monday, November 5. However, the constitutional law expert claimed he acted as a private lawyer who professionally worked based on his expertise that did not list in the structure board of the National Campaign Team.

“I have read the campaign team structure that notes legal and defense division. This division in a corporation is named in-house lawyer, while I am a professional lawyer outside the structure board,” Yusril told reporters on Monday, November 5.

Meanwhile, PBB`s campaign division head Sukmo Harsono said his party had yet decided its support or remained neutral in the 2019 presidential election. “PBB still on neutral position, and will be finalized in the National Meeting at the end of November,” he said.
