TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian eSport Association (IeSPA) Eddy Lim said that his side would build an eSports academy in Indonesia.

“There is already an international academy. We'll build an academy in Indonesia,” Eddy said after attending the 2019 Asia Pacific Predator League Kick Off in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 30.

eSport is a term for video game competitions with plural players, generally between professional players. eSport grows rapidly and influences the development of non-technology industries.

“Because eSport does not only create gamers to be champions. For example, a doctor can supervise the eSport athletes specifically, it is different if you handle it with other athletes, in other sports, the muscles might be examined, but in eSport, it is different. And from food science, eSport athletes have different needs. Maybe the salt should be multiplied instead of focusing on muscles. That’s what we will include in the academy."

According to Eddy, the growth of eSport in Indonesia is rapid, moreover, it has even competed in the 2018 Asian Games exhibition.
