TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Capsule hotels are starting to pave its way into Indonesia’s mainstream tourism industry thanks to its uncommon concept, as proven by the escalating number of hotel managements that adopted the unique concept of capsule hotels.
“Capsule hotels are growing in numerous apartments and hotels,” said Capsule Indonesia's product distributor director Hianto in the Hospitality Indonesia 2018 exhibition at JIExpo today.
A spaceship themed capsule hotel unit was also on display in the exhibition. The capsule measures 2.3 x 1.3 meters.
The capsule hotel concept has also been adopted by Soekarno-Hatta Airport's Terminal 3, which boasts 120 capsule hotels. There is also an app called the Digital Airport Hotel that enables customers to book rooms online.
According to a seminar held at the Hospitality Indonesia 2018 exhibition, Indonesia’s Interior Designers Association chair Lea Aviliani Aziz said hotel designs were not based on trends, but rather more on the hotel’s durability and quality.
