TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi together with Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti are set to team-up upon holding a world level conference entitled `Our Ocean Conference` that will be held in Bali on October 29-30.
The conference, which will be the first time Indonesia hosts it, is the fifth time since it was first held in 2014. “This will further assert our commitment and protect our interests regarding the ocean,” said Minister Retno Marsudi today, Oct. 17.
The relevant issues set to be discussed in the conference include actions from member countries upon improvements such as ocean clean-up by 6,000 delegates from around the world. Indonesia is also set to invest in ocean diplomacy.
Meanwhile, Minister Susi Pudjiastuti said that Our Ocean Conference will certainly benefit Indonesia from the view of Blue Economy, which is the use of ocean resources and fisheries that are environmentally friendly. “The ocean affects everything,” said Susi.
