Sleman Holds 7 Art Shows in 7 Temples

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of seven art and cultural shows will be respectively held in seven temples located in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta starting Monday, October 1.
“Every night, art and cultural show will be presented in different temples for a week,” said Sleman Culture Agency head HY Aji Wulantara on Sunday, September 30. The temples are located in Berbah sub-district, Prambanan, and Kalasan.
On Monday, October 1, the parade of Yogyakarta traditional dance performed by Putu Kerto Sendangtirto Studio in Abang Temple, Jogotirot, Berbah.
On Tuesday, October 2, the full-story Ramayana performed by Ngrayung Bokoharjo studio in Tebing Breksi, Sambirejo, Prambanan.
On Wednesday, October 3, the legend story of Bandung Bondowoso by Puri Prambanan studio in Banyunibo Temple, Bokoharjo, Prambanan.
On Thursday, October 4, Sendratari (ballet) Brojonoto Sayemboro performed by Wayang Topeng Pedhalangan in Candisari, Tirtomartani, Kalasan.
On Friday, October 5, Sendratari Sayemprobo Paeko performed by Magada Studio in Sambisari Temple, Kalasan.
On Saturday, October 6, Sendratari Babad Kalasan performed by Tharah Bhawana Tirtomartani Studio in Candi Kalasan.
On Sunday, October 7, Menak Kokarib dance performed by Cikrak Kina Studio in Ijo Temple, Sambirejo, Prambanan.
Aji explained the art and cultural performances in the temple areas are expected to increase appreciations towards artists and cultural activists around the areas as well as to develop the tourism.
“Sleman is known for its thousands of temples. This art and cultural shows in the evening hopefully will attract more tourists,” said Faisal, one of tourism businessman in the transportation sector in Sleman, Yogyakarta.
