TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The messaging application LINE Indonesia collaborated with the career platform Top Karir to develop a program dubbed 2018 Job Matching. The program was initiated by Directorate of Vocational High School (SMK) of the Education and Culture Ministry.

“We expect the partnership with Top Karir will help the government facilitate the graduates of SMK and others to get a job based on their competency,” said LINE Jobs Lead Mira Fariza in a written statement, Monday, September 10.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded in 2018 that a total of 6.87 million Indonesian people were unemployed. One of the highest contributions of the open unemployment rate (TPT) was SMK graduates at 8.92 percent.

Since early 2018, Top Karir and LINE Jobs designed the program providing easy access to information regarding job vacancy, internship, training, scholarships, career tips, and entrepreneurship.

“The responsibility to reduce the unemployment rate in Indonesia does not solely belong to the government. LINE Jobs, the job search services installed in LINE app, provides job vacancy information which 60 percent of them designed for the beginner level such as SMK graduates,” Mira explained.

A total of 78,729 job seekers of SMK graduates have joined the Job Matching program through a website smk.topkarir.com. Top Karir CEO Bayu Janitra said the partnership with LINE Jobs and the government would help the Indonesian young people to develop their career.

Bayu explained Top Karir and LINE Jobs also established Job Fairs to ten campuses throughout Indonesia and held regular workshops in MULA CO-working space, Cilandak Town Square, South Jakarta.
