Indonesia Holds Cultural Festival in Azerbaijan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Government held the third Indonesian Cultural Festival (ICF) in Baku City, Azerbaijan on September 11-16.
“The event is held in the heart of Baku City, Azerbaijan,” said Husnan Bey Fananie, Indonesian Ambassador in Azerbaijan, via a short message received in Jakarta, Wednesday, September 12.
Hunan Bey expected thousands of Azerbaijani people and foreign tourist would visit the festival themed Keeping the Archipelago Greatest Culture Alive.
The festival is held in two locations namely Heydar Aliyev Sarayi and Fountaine Square, known as the crowded shopping center as it is located near the Formula 1 Grand Prix Baku.
The festival was supported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Education and Culture Ministry, Tourism Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry, and the Religious Affairs Ministry. Other than ministries, Tulang Bawang Barat Regency Administration (Lampung), Jakarta Administration, and Indonesian entrepreneurs also present to promote local products of Indonesia.
Husnan Bey said the 2018 ICF was officially opened by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Indonesian Minister for Education and Culture Muhajir Efendi.
The 2018 ICF was an annual biggest event established by Indonesian Embassy in Baku in tandem with PT Dana Dyaksa Nusantara (DAYA) Jakarta. “We will spread the spirit of Indonesia to the center of civilization and the center of the Caucasus countries, East Europe, Central Asia, and South Asia,” Husnan noted.
