E-Commerce Predicted to Expand to Offline Stores

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Research and consultant firm Leads Property Services predicts there will be overwhelming demands for e-commerce stores to enter conventional shopping centers in a concept known as O2O or online to offline.


Leads Property Services Director Darsono Tan said several known e-commerce have shown interests to introduce an offline store in the retail area.


“This type of business expansion will not only happen in the Greater Jakarta area but also cities such as Medan, Solo, Semarang, Jogjakarta, Bali, Makassar and many others,” he said on Wednesday, August 22.

Furthermore, the company revealed that the most likely area in the retail industry targeted by e-commerce stores is in fashion, food and beverage, household items, and consumer goods.


Overall, the occupancy rate of retail stores during 2018’s second quarter is 94.97 percent, which is a 0.24 percent QoQ decline but has grown 1.29 percent annually.

In terms of distribution within the golden triangle district, the CBD Golden Triangle experienced the highest with a 26 percent increase followed by North Jakarta with 21 percent and West Jakarta with 20 percent.
