Jokowi Says No Special Discussion at His Meeting with Maruf Amin

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo claimed he was not expected that his secret meeting with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) chairman Maruf Amin could be known by the press media.


“How do you know?” said Jokowi to reporters at State Palace, Wednesday, August 8.


Jokowi said no special talks were brought up during the meeting but the organization that led by Maruf Amin. “Discussion about MUI,” he said.

Maruf Amin visited the State Palace complex, Jakarta, Wednesday afternoon, August 8. He met President Jokowi and held a closed session for about an hour. Unusually, Maruf met Jokowi through the side gate.


At 3:15 pm, Maruf Amin exit from the side door of the palace and was picked up by his driver riding black Alphard with the plate number B-5-MRF.


Several reporters tried to block the car and called Maruf Amin. However, he remained silent behind the closed window and his car went on. The meeting between Jokowi and Maruf Amin was not scheduled in the president’s agenda today.
