TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita said Public Works and Housing Ministry (PUPR) planned to build five regional central markets following the recommendation in the previous cabinet meeting.
“[The plan] is based on Mr. President’s order, the physical construction will be handed to PUPR Ministry. So we ask PUPR Minister for the administration in line with the cabinet meeting suggestion regarding the project,” said Enggar after the session with PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in his office, South Jakarta, Wednesday, August 1.
Enggar mentioned that they would use additional budget which has been proposed to Finance Ministry, instead of his ministry’s budget.
The five central markets, Enggar added, were expected to be able to maintain the commodity price. In addition, the construction would be built based on the unique or thematic characteristics of the product to be displayed.
However, the exact locations of the central markets have yet to confirm. “But it will be in Makassar, South Sulawesi, East Java, West Java, and Central Java,” he said.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, meanwhile, said the fund allocation of the five central markets was expected to amount at Rp1 trillion or Rp200 billion for each market project.
“I’ve called Finance Ministry to list the budget in 2019 State Budget (UU APBN 2019). The cost will not over Rp1 trillion,” he remarked.
