TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned toll operator PT Jasa Marga secretary, Agus Setiawan, said Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi (MKTT) toll road was expected to ease the distribution and lower logistics costs of goods and services.
The toll road would shorten the trip time from Kualanamu airport to Medan City or vice versa which was initially 2 hours to be 45 minutes.
“We expect the toll road will give a contribution to the regional development when it is fully operational,” said Agus in a press release on Sunday, July 22.
Agus said the section 1 of MKTT toll road (Tanjung Morawa-Parbarakan Interchange) was opened since June 2018 for the 2018 Eid homecoming season. The 10.75-kilometer interchange was ready to operational.
Tanjung Morawa-Parbarakan Interchange would connect the existing toll Belawan-Medan-Tanjung Morawa (Belmera), operated since October 13, 2017, with Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi section 2-6 (Kualanamu-Sei Rampah).
MKTT toll road, which was developed by PT Jasa Marga subsidiary PT Jasamarga Kualanamu Tol, would have seven sections along its 61.7 kilometers roads and cost Rp4.90 trillion in total.
