2018 Asian Games Torch Relay Kicks Off in Yogyakarta

TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Residents of Yogyakarta are given the honors to witness the 2018 Asian Games torch relay before it heads off to other multiple cities throughout Indonesia.
The Asian Games torch is scheduled to stay in the city located in Central Java from July 17 at the Dirgantara Museum area in the Adisutjipto Airport before traveling through the city’s 11.5 kilometer planned route on Thursday, July 19, as it is taken to Solo.
The official route of the torch relay will kick off from Keraton – zero kilometer site (Titik Nol) – Bhayangkara street intersection – Pasar Kembang – Teteg – Malioboro Street – Titik Nol – Gondomanan intersection – Pojok Beteng Wetan.
Asian Games torch organizer Virza Rezkyana Indra stated that the first day of the torch’s arrival will be handed to INASGOC Chairman Erick Thohir together with Yogyakarta’s Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X at the Dirgantara Museum area in the Adisutjipto Airport.
The torch will be handed by Asian Games torch ambassador and retired legendary badminton player Susy Susanti. According to Virza, several national athletes, Yogyakarta Government Officials, sponsors, and Regional Leader Communication Forum members will have the honor to run with the torch.
