TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Driven by gadgets that continue to penetrate into the lives modern people, cases of addiction to a specific gadget are starting to rise. Here are the several psychotherapies or pharmacotherapy that you can undergo to battle with your gadget-related addiction.

Here are the three types of therapies that you can undergo based on the press release we received from the Indonesian Health Ministry on Saturday, July 7.

1. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

Psychiatric specialist from University of Indonesia’s health faculty (FKUI) Kristiana Siste said that people that have a certain tendency has a fixed mindset towards certain activities. This is where CBT contributes in modifying negative thoughts that are substituted with a more positive mindset.

2. Motivational Interview (MI)

This method is more compatible to patients that are in their pre-teens or are still in development. This type of method places the autonomy or decision taking back to the patient to decide.

3. Behavioral Therapy

This method can be done by modifying the patient’s environment to reduce the level of motivation that can eventually block his or her dependency towards the addiction to gadgets. The co-morbid patient will be redirected to other activities that do not relate to
gadgets.
