TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The 212 Rally Alumni group and some elements of society staged Friday a rally to demand the resignation of Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo.

"This action will be followed by tens of thousands of people," rally coordinator Fikri Bareno said in a short message.

Fikri said the rally also demanded the government complete the investigation into the e-ID graft case and was a sign of protest against the appointment of Comr. Gen. M. Iriawan as the acting West Java Governor.

"We demand that the Minister of Home Affairs be fired because of both cases," he said.

The protesters also demand the immediate arrests of some figures for alleged blasphemy, viz. Sukmawati Soekarnoputri, Victor Laiskodat and Ade Armando.

"The national appeal of this rally is to uphold justice," Fikri said.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said the police were ready to secure the 212 Alumni group's rally by deploying some 6,500 personnel.

"We also prepare traffic police to anticipate congestion," Argo said.
