TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi had met Garuda Indonesia Pilot Association (APG) in light of its plan to hold a strike. Minister Budi pledged to conduct an inspection on the security matter.

“I make a promise to hold audit because the complaints I’ve heard are related to security elements or functions that did not impose at maximum,” said Budi at Merlynn Park Hotel, Friday, July 6.

He said in the next days ahead, the inspection findings will be delivered to Garuda Indonesia for further improvement. “Out of the context [security matters] is the authority of other institutions,” he underlined.

Garuda Indonesia Employees Union (Sekarga) head Tomy Tampatty said the conflict between Garuda Indonesia and Sekarga-APG found a hope.

The statement was conveyed after the meeting between the three parties at a residence of SOE Minister Rini Soemarno in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday, July 5. The result was released today at Garuda City Center, Soekarno Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten.

Earlier, APG and Sekarga planned to hold strike since their demands were not responded yet.

“The issues are not solved as expected since 30 working days after the press release on May 2, 2018, which lasts on June 28, 2018, and until today. So, we are determined to hold a strike," said APG president Bintang Handoko in a written statement received by Tempo on Tuesday, July 3.
