TEMPO.CO, Mataram - PT Lombok Cruise offers a tour package called Wild West Sumbawa Cruise, namely the exploration of eight tourist islands in Sumbawa using KMP Kormomolin. The first trip was on Saturday, June 23.
There are about 300 people who joined in this prime journey. In this package, the participants will get a tent to stay at Kenawa Island.
"This WWSC is scheduled to run every two weeks," said a spokesman for the Association of Travel Agents Indonesia (Astindo), Abdul Haris, Sunday, June 24. According to him, this promotional travel package will be held three times until 21 July. Astindo West Nusa Tenggara is an association that supervises PT Lombok Cruise.
The journey starts from the Mataram city to the Kayangan Port in East Lombok. Using a KMP Kormomolin measuring 46 meters long and 12 meters wide, participants are invited to explore the unique nature of small Belang and Paserang islands.
"There are underwater tours, as well as climbing and exploring mangrove forests," said Abdul.
Furthermore, from Kayangan Port, the participants go to the Kenawa island in front of the Poto Tano port. Then go to Gili Balu, Paserang, Namo, Kalong, Batu Besar, and Batu Kecil. After that, head to the Goat Island, Sand Island, Snake Island, and Namo Island. This trip uses a ferry.
Kenawa is a small-uninhabited island not far from Poto Tano Harbor. Currently, Kenawa is popular as a tourist destination. Some people hope Kenawa can be a tourism icon of Sumbawa.
Kenawa Island is merged with Paserang Island, Tamo Island, Gili Belang, and another island called Gili Balu. The area structuring still needs a recommendation from the Ministry of Forestry.
"It is expected that the arrangement will run smoothly," said Sumbawa Regent W. Musyafirin welcomed the inaugural WWSC, Saturday, June 23.
Musyafirin said, Wild West Sumbawa Cruise will be the beginning of the revival of Sumbawa tourism.
