TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The security at the International Changi Airport in Singapore felt slightly different on Monday, June 11, compared to regular days. The number of immigration security personnel had increased significantly at every corner of the airport.

Several airplane passengers that had just arrived and took pictures of the situation were given warnings from security personnel, which is somewhat a direct message to other passengers that photographic documentation in several locations at Changi Airport are highly restricted.

The current advanced security is a direct effect of the upcoming summit between United States President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un on June 12. Channel News Asia previously reported on June 3 that home team academy and the Singaporean armed forces have fully prepared its personnel into making sure that the efforts to secure the historical meeting can be held securely.

One of the airport’s personnel Peter Kwan said to Tempo that the airport’s security have been upped since June 8.

“The news of US President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un coming to Singapore have filled headlines lately. So we wanted to make sure that everything is safe, even though Singapore has been safe all along,” said Peter Kwan.
