TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Muhammadiyah`s women organization, Aisyiyah, agreed if the ratification of Antiterrorism Bill is accelerated with some conditions. The acceleration of the bill ratification aimed at reducing the increase of terrorist acts in Indonesia.

“If the Bill has been passed, do not let the law make the security forces arrest people carelessly without legal evidence of their involvement with acts of terror,” said Chairman of Aisyiyah Central Board Siti Noordjannah Djihantini at Aisyiyah Yogyakarta office Tuesday, May 15.

The stagnant discussion of the Anti-terrorism Bill between the government and the House of Representatives is said to be related to the lack of clear definition of terrorist and TNI involvement in coping with terrorism.

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto has also claimed that the discussion has been completed.

Aisyiyah organization assessed that it has been involved in studying polemics related to the stagnation of the Antiterrorism Bill. The organization itself said it had no problem with the legalization of the bill but with some conditions.

"Once it's implemented, the Antiterrorism Bill must reflect the interests of humanity, justice and guarantee the security of every Indonesian citizen and fair treatment in the eyes of the law," she said.

Siti said that her organization did not want the passing of Antiterrorism Bill to cause new problems in the future because of the articles that have not been thoroughly discussed carefully.

Aisyiyah declared a strong condemnation on the bombings occurred in Surabaya and Sidoarjo on May 13-14 that have claimed lives of dozens of people.

"The acts of terror are not only against the teachings of religion but have humiliated the religion," he said.
