Surabaya to Have More Urban Forests: Mayor

TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini has said she will develop more urban forests for the city`s better environment.
"In West Surabaya, there are many urban forests because the ground is higher and absorb water," the mayor said on Sunday.
West Surabaya`s urban forests are located in Balasklumprik, Kebraon and Waru Gunung.
The Surabaya municipality also plans to have herbal medicine parks having various plants such as bamboo and moringa trees, in Kebraon and Mulyorejo.
Surabaya has also encouraged its inhabitants to plant paddies, and vegetables.
