Govt to Talk to EU on Fishery Export Expansion

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director general of maritime resources and fisheries at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Nilanto Perbowo stated he is scheduled to have a meeting with European Union Commission in his official visit to Belgia next week regarding the export expansion.
“On behalf of Minister Susi Pudjiastuti, I’ll meet three parties to convince the export expansion on Indonesian fishery product to Europe market,” Nilanto told Tempo at the KKP building, Central Jakarta, Thursday, April 19.
Nilanto Perbowo will meet the European Commission of Directorate-General for EU marine and fisheries (DG Mare), Directorate-General for food safety and health (DG Sante), and Directorate-General for trade (DG Trade).
The meeting will take place following Indonesia's participation at Seafood Expo Global in Belgia on April 24-26, 2018.
In addition, Nilanto will meet potential buyers interesting to Indonesian fisheries product from Italy and France.
Based on the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia has targeted five main export destinations of local fisheries product in 2017 with a total value up to US$4.52 billion. One of them is Europe with a target of 7.6 percent or amounted to US$345.2 million.
