TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The traders in Beringharjo Market, Yogyakarta have started to pile up their stocks prior to Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holiday.

"If we [stock up] near Ramadan when the demand highly increases, the product might be sent late and the traders would compete, we would also likely get low quality product," said Ratesih, a Muslim clothes trader in Beringharjo Market on Thursday, April 12, 2018.

Ratesih explained that traders usually stock up long before the fasting month comes. She claimed that she had spent IDR 100 million to buy Muslim wear. "Most of the product is bought from Tanah Abang Market, Jakarta and other regions such as from Kebumen, Magelang, and Yogya," Ratesih said.

According to Ratesih, Ramadan is the month that brings profits for traders in Beringharjo market because their daily revenue could increase up to three times compared to other months. "On a normal day, the value is IDR 5 million, while in Ramadan until the Eid holiday amounted to IDR 15 million per day," said Ratesih.

Another trader named Ambar Yulianingsih also said that she has started to stock up on Muslim wears especially robe with Batik prints, which are usually preferred by tourist during Ramadan.
