Cicaheum Flash flood in Bandung city is allegedly due to land conversion in the area of North Bandung.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cicaheum Flash flood in Bandung city is allegedly due to land conversion in the area of North Bandung. Head of Bandung Fire and Disaster Handling Agency Ferdi Linggaswara said the flood is relatively heavy.

"Why? Because the exploitation of KBU has been critical," said Ferdi in Bandung, Tuesday, March 21.

Ferdi said his team had predicted that it would hit the area of Bandung which is the path of water flow in the north. The massive construction of hotels and settlements in the area of North Bandung make the uptake of water is reduced.

"I have been giving warnings because we know that some point of KBU which covers four areas (Bandung, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, and Cimahi) is very uncontrolled development," he said. "Handling cannot be done only by one party, but it must involve all Bandung Administrations."

Cicaheum flash flood occurred on Tuesday afternoon at around 16:30 pm. The mudflow that caused the road in Cicaheum or exactly 100 meters from Cicaheum terminal was completely paralyzed. In addition, 17 cars and eight motorcycles were damaged by the flow.
