TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) once again reminded that Indonesia is a big country with enough assets to transform itself into a developed nation. Jokowi asserted that self-confidence is the main key to obtain other countries' recognition.

“Indonesia continues to get international recognition, gaining trust from our economic reform,” said Jokowi during the opening of the national leadership meeting of the 2018 Young Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi) in Tangerang today.

He claims that this can be proven from three international investment rating agencies; Fitch Ratings, Standards and Poor’s, and Moody’s Investor Service, that gave Indonesia’s investment climate a positive report.

Indonesia was also ranked the 72nd by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which is up 19 positions from the previous position.

President Jokowi also claimed that Indonesia has been included in the Trillion Dollar Club, which only consists of 16 nations that have an annual economic value of USD 1 trillion.

“I often remind my state ministers or even our ambassadors. We should always remember that we are already included in the top 16 group. We should no longer receive aid from other countries, but Indonesia should be the one that provides aid to other countries,” said Jokowi.
