Popular Drugs Among Indonesian Celebrities According to Police

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several Indonesian celebrities have been arrested by authorities for drug possession. The latest arrest was made on the family members of dangdut singer Elvy Sukaesih.
Head of South Jakarta Police’s narcotics unit Vivick Tjangkung stated that there are three types of narcotics that are popular among celebrities.
“The first is the Dumolid anti-depressant pills, marijuana, and crystal meth,” said Vivick at the South Jakarta police headquarters on Thursday, February 22.

According to her, Dumolid has a relaxing effect on the user’s body which makes it the favorite choice of narcotics used by celebrities to take time off the hectic entertainment world. This type of drug is allegedly considered to be able to improve the stamina of its users. As other addictive substances, the comedown of Dumolid is said to affect the physical body.
“This is why they continue to abuse [Dumolid],” said Vivick.
Vivick said that there are no specific ways to reveal substance abuse among celebrities. Usually, authorities would act upon a tip-off from members of the public and follow it up the by entering the celebrity environment. She said that they have yet received info whether there are drug networks among celebrities.
Moreover, the South Jakarta Police would conduct urine tests at movie sets. According to South Jakarta police Deputy Adj. Comm. Budi Sartono, urine test at movie sets is the way to eradicate and prevent the spread of narcotics among celebrities.
