Jokowi to Visit Afghanistan despite Last Week`s Bomb in Kabul

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo with first lady Iriana and the state delegates continue their work visit in Afghanistan despite last Saturday’s bomb attacks in Kabul. State Secretary Pratikno said the president is not discouraged by the terror.


“This is part of a solidarity effort in the international world, especially as fellow Muslims,” Pratikno said in Jakarta, Monday, Jan. 29.

A release by the Presidential Secretariat deputy for protocol, press and the media, Bey Machmudin, said the president and his delegates left from Bangladesh to Afghanistan on 10:20.


President Widodo and the first lady will visit the Arg Presidential Palace to meet Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. Jokowi will follow a series of state activities and hold a bilateral meeting before issuing a joint press statement.


The president will then visit the Afghanistan High Peace Council (HPC) Afghanistan at the Haram Sarai Palace before having lunch at the Arg palace.
