TEMPO.CO, Magelang - The government increases budget for village fund annually. Despite the case, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati questioned the slow rate of reduce in poverty as it is expected that poverty can reduce in a rapid pace.
In her visit to Magelang dan Yogyakarta, Sri Mulyani stated that village fund rises annually from Rp 20 trillion to Rp 40 trillion and even reaches Rp 60 trillion in 2017. If poverty level remains the same, she said that this is dangerous.
"This is really dangerous. When the budget keeps increasing, but the level of poverty remains the same," Sri Mulyani said Magelang on Saturday (16/12).
She explained that with such a significant increase of budget distributed to residents of villages, poverty rate is supposed to be under 10 percent. She expects poverty rate in 2019 decreases and reaches under 10 percent.
