TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - There are no Indonesians among the victims in an explosion in Manhattan, New York, said the Indonesian Foreign Ministry on its Twitter account.
An explosion happened in a tunnel at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue in Manhattan. Four people were injured in the incident, one of whom was the perpetrator named Akeyad Ullah. The suspect used a low-end explosive attached to his body.
The incident was caught on a security camera. The video that was posted on NYPost.com shows a cloud of smoke and a man was lying down the tunnel connecting the Times Square subway and Port Authority station.
The Indonesian Foreign Ministry also said on its Twitter account that ‘The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in New York continues to monitor the development of the explosion at a bus terminal in New York.’
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said that the Manhattan explosion was an attempted terror attack. He, however, added that there was no further attack following the incident.
