TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Forbes says that the top 50 richest people in Indonesia have a total net worth of USD126 billion or equal to Rp1700 trillion.
“This year, the notable achievement is that total net worth of the 50 richest surpassed $100 billion for the first time ever,” Forbes Indonesia Chief Editorial Advisor Justin Doebele said on Forbes website.
A number of Indonesia’s richest people have significantly increased their net worth. Budi and Michael Hartono, owners of cigarette producer Djarum, have a joint net worth of USD32.3 billion (Rp436 trillion), higher than last year of USD17.1 billion.
Forbes says that the total net worth of top 50 richest persons in Indonesia is USD126 billion, whereas last year’s figure was USD99 billion.
The Forbes magazine adds that the tycoons have increased their net worth thanks to higher stock prices and the tax amnesty program that saw them declared their previously hidden assets.
