Floods Inundate 4,076 Houses in North Sumatra: BNPB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Heavy rainfall on Saturday inundated as many as 4,076 houses in three regencies in North Sumatra province.


Head of Information Data Center and Public Relations of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the the three affected regencies are Asaham, Labuhanbatu Utara, and Kota Tebing Tinggi.


“Heavy rains have made water in two rivers in the province overflow and caused flooding,” Sutopo said on Thursday (16/9).


Although the rain the floods did not cause fatalities, affected residents had to be evacuated.


"Our temporary data shows that at least 2,037 families were affected by the floods,” Sutopo said.
