TEMPO.CO, Jember - Tourism Minister, Arief Yahya said the Ministry of Tourism will support the implementation of Jember Fashion Carnival (JFC) in 2018 using state budget funds.

"This year we have helped, in the future there must be a balance between cultural value and commercial value to keep the continuity of carnival activities to continue to run," he said after the departure of President Joko Widodo at Notohadinegoro Airport, Jember, East Java, Sunday, August 13, 2017.

Arief Yahya said, President of Jember Festival, Dynand Fariz, has presented Jember Fashion Carnival to the Ministry of Tourism. However, based on the analysis that the commercial value in Jember Fashion Carnival is less, so there must be funding that one of the sources of APBD.

"The APBN funds can only be used for the national level, and finally we have the value and we are determined that next year Jember Fashion Carnival can get the state budget fund, but it is not necessarily sustainable," said Arief Yahya.

Arief Yahya, said Jember Fashion Carnival is good in terms of culture and art. But not yet optimal in the commercial side, and needs to be managed again because JFC should involve the private sector in its funding.

"The President considered that Jember Fashion Carnival's activities are at a national level, even world level, so that the fashion carnival should have been held in Jakarta or other big cities, so that opportunity for Dynand Fariz to develop Jember Fashion Carnival to became the forerunner of carnivals in other cities, "said Arief Yahya.
