TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - One of many criminal cases still left unsolved by the Jakarta Metro Police is the acid attack against Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan, which is now under the responsibility of newly appointed Jakarta Police Chief Insp. Gen. Idham Azis.
One hundred days have passed since the Novel was attacked with acid, and police have not yet identified the perpetrators responsible for the attack.

Idham Azis succeeded former Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Mochamad Iriawan.
Earlier on Thursday, July 20, Iriawan personally denied that his transfer is not related to the investigation on Novel Baswedan’s attack.
“I hope the newly appointed Jakarta Police chief will be able to solve the cause,” Iriawan said.
Another high-stake criminal case that is waiting to be processed is the steamy smartphone chats allegedly occurred between Islamic Defender Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Syihab and Firza Husein. Police have not been able to arrest Rizieq because he has not returned yet from Saudi Arabia.

Idham Azis is known as the police officer who successfully detained Malaysian terrorist leader Dr. Azahari back in 2005. In 2009, Idham was appointed as the Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Jakarta Metro Police.
