TEMPO.CO, California - Alphabet, the parent company of Google, launched Google Glass Enterprise Edition earlier this week, as reported by The Inquirer. Instead of being made for the general consumer, the company has created a new design of glasses for the industrial sector, specifically for workers in the manufacturing industry.

Google Glass Enterprise Edition is already being used in more than 50 companies such as Boeing, Volkswagen, DHL, Shutter Health, and Agco, in the United States.

The Inquirer's technology news page says that Google Glass Enterprise Edition uses augmented reality technology. This technology aids workers by displaying the instruction manual on the glass. According to Alphabet, this clever method can increase productivity and improve work efficiency.

“They can still access information even though their hands are busy,” said Jay Kothari, head of the Google Glass project. In addition, Alphabet has worked with about tens of software companies and other business organizations for the creation of Google Glass.

The Inquirer’s technology news page also mentions that Google Glass Enterprise Edition is also undergoing design changes. At first, the design of Google Glass consisted of a small panel in the right eye. The design of Google Glass Enterprise Edition resembles the design of safety goggles, but with the addition of a small panel.

The camera resolution was enlarged from the original five megapixels to 8 megapixels. When a pair of Google Glass records a video, there will be a red indicator light.

Due to the indicator light, the potential for taking pictures in secrecy can be minimized.

However, as reported by The Inquirer’s technology page, Alphabet does not mention the price of Google Glass Enterprise Edition. One pair of Google Glass Enterprise Edition is rumored to cost around $1300-$1500 USD per unit, or Rp17.5 million to Rp20.2 million.
