TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution said that the 16th economic policy package will be issued in three weeks. He revealed that the new policy package is aimed at boosting the investment sector in Indonesia.

“We’re making a big change so that the investment sector in Indonesia can grow faster,” Darmin said at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 19, 2017.

Earlier on Monday, the government pitched an idea to form an investment task force consisting of various stakeholders. According to Darmin, the plan will be legalized under a Presidential Regulation.

The new bill will mandate every ministry and agency related to the investment sector to form a sectoral taskforce led by an echelon I official.

Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto expressed his support to the presidential regulation drafting. However, he reminded that the government must also pay attention to the manpower sector.

Earlier in June, the government issued an economic policy package focusing on the logistics sector. The government hopes that business owners will stock their inventories in Indonesia, instead of in other countries.
