TEMPO.CO, Medan - Research, Technology and Higher Education Minister Muhammad Nasir said that it is prohibited to make campus as a place to exercise politics. He added that university is a place for the students to gain knowledge for a better future.

"So, do not make campus as a place for politics. This must be avoided at all cost," Nasir said in Medan on Saturday (20/5) after opening a nation-wide assembly of rectors and vice rectors of Teacher Training Institutions.

The assembly was attended by 12 universities, among which are Medan State University (Unimed), Yogyakarta State University (UNY), Surabaya State University (UNS), Padang State University (UNP) and Makassar State University (UNM).

Minister Nasir continued that political parties are prohibited to enter university grounds to campaign on their programs.

"It’s because campus is a place for students to pursuit their study and they cannot be influenced by political agendas," he explained.
