TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Google announced today that its Indonesian multilingual machine translation service is already equipped with Google’s neural machine translation (NMT). This technology enables a more accurate and easily understandable translation.

“Indonesia is one of the countries in the world with the most active Google Translate users. We’re very pleased to launch this technology for Indonesian language,” Engineering Director for Google Translate Macduff Hughes said on Friday, April 28, 2017.

This artificial intelligence based translation technology was previously launched for a variety of languages in November 2016.

Google Translate has been the main preference for Indonesian users because of its ease of operation, quick processing, device compatibility, audio playback feature for pronunciation purposes, and grammar.

The NMT technology no longer processes word-to-word data, but it can translate an entire sentence correctly based on a broad range of context to determine the most relevant translation, and is also adapted with vernacular language with correct grammars.

NMT is also applied in 40 languages, from and to English, such as Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, French, German, Spanish, and Russian.
