TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Universal Taekwondo Indonesia Professional (UTI Pro) team comprising four Indonesian taekwondoin (fighters) has won four gold medals in the 2017 Open International Taekwondo Championship of World Action Taekwondo Association (WATA) held in Osaka, Japan.

Based on information received from the media team of the UTI Pro here on Thursday, Indonesian taekwondo fighters who registered glorious victories in the championship were Herlambang Agus Parluhutan, Aprilliandy Fransiorendy, Nuri Revani Siregar in the Kyorugi category, and Siti Aulia Rahma in the Poomsae category.

The accomplishment of the Indonesian mainstay taekwondo fighters, which received major acclaim, was the result of tough training, the teams manager Alfian Alfeus Bangun stated.

"Obviously, this is an exciting result. They are able to show the best results in the championship," he noted.

Athletes from 17 countries participated in the prestigious 2017 WATA Open International Taekwondo Championship and competed to be the best in both kyorugi and poomsae categories.

The team coach Satriyo Rahadhani admitted to being satisfied with the success of the Indonesian taekwondo fighters at the prestigious championship.

"They performed all out and did not get butterflies in their stomachs as they dried behind the ears about taekwondo," Rahadhani, the former national taekwondo fighter who had performed at the Athens 2004 Olympics, remarked.

Meanwhile, the supervisor of the Universal Taekwondo Indonesia Foundation and UTI Pro Grand Master Lioe Nam Khiong pointed out that the brilliant achievement of the Indonesian taekwondo fighters has reflected the results of coaching given at the UTI Pro Training Center.

"We have never stopped in offering coaching centrally and sustainably. The results in Japan are good as all four athletes who participated in the championship won the gold medal," he added.

In order to improve the skills of taekwondo fighters, Khiong also plans to make them complete in several other international championships as part of an ongoing coaching program of the UTI Pro.
