Police Arrest 4 Alleged Terrorists in Banten, One Dead

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Police’s Special Counter-Terrorism Detachment 88 or Densus 88 arrested four suspected terrorists in Banten. Police Spokesman General Rikwanto revealed that one person, Nanang Kosim, died in the ambush that was conducted on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at 12:00 Indonesian Western Time.
Rikwanto said the alleged terrorists were arrested in Ciwandan, Banten, while traveling in two vehicles from Anyer. Police arrested Achmed Supriyanto and Icuk Pamulang in the first car.
Both of them immediately surrendered when Police blocked them. “They were immediately arrested,” said Rikwanto through an official statement on Thursday, March 23, 2017.
Furthermore, Rikwanto explained that Nanang Kosim and Ojid Majid who were in the second vehicle were not cooperative. According to him, the second car started to accelerate its speed towards the police' car that intercepted them and crashed into it.
“Authorities had to neutralize them and suspect Nanang died on the way to the hospital,” Rikwanto said. Meanwhile, Abdul Madjid suffered a bullet wound in his hand.
Police managed to apprehend a gun from the suspects as evidence.
