TEMPO.CO, Depok - Historian JJ. Rizal said at least 10 lakes in Depok have disappeared due to the increasing number of property development in the city.
“Depok used to have 31 lakes and now there are only 21 lakes left, and 80% of it is not well taken care of,” Rizal said on Saturday (25/2).
Rizal added that such a condition shows a big change in Depok, which has transformed into a city whose economy depends on property sector.
“This fact is very different from the concept of Depok in the colonial era that prioritized ecology,” Rizal said.
