Indonesia Wins 22 Medals in Korea Open Memory Championship

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has won 22 medals, comprising two gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze in Korea Open Memory Championship held in Chung Ang University, South Korea on February 18-19.
“Indonesia this year won 22 medals with a team comprising 14 members,” Indonesia Memory Sports Council chairman Yudi Lesmana said in Jakarta on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Competing in the junior category, Fakhri of SMAN 26 Jakarta senior high school secured one gold, five silver and two bronze medals plus a silver medal for the team’s overall position.
Two gold and one bronze medals were won by team leader Yudi Lesmana in the adult category.
Some 184 participants from 12 countries took part in the championship. The competition featured 10 games which include memorizing faces and names in five minutes, memorizing the sequence of words in five minutes, memorizing random numbers in 15 minutes, memorizing a deck of shuffled playing cards.
“As many as 10 games were played with the aim of improving and sharpening one’s concentration and memory. The participants performed brain muscles workout in the competition,” he said.
Fakhri set a fantastic record by for memorizing 600 digits of random binary numbers and 58 sequences and years within five minutes, other Indonesian student Aiko was able to memorize 60 random words within five minutes, Shafa memorized the sequence of 166 cards within 10 minutes and Yudi Lesmana memorized and said out loud 188 digits of number within 188 seconds.
