Jokowi Meets ADB; Discusses Tax, Infrastructure

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo and President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takehito Nakao met at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. The two men discussed the economic challenges faced by Indonesia.
"The President explained about the many issues related to our economic progress and the challenges faced today and in the future," Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said in a press conference on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.

The Minister said the president told Mr. Nakao about the government's policies to improve investments, alleviate poverty, and reduce the economic gap.
The president, Sri said, also talked about the government's plans to boost infrastructure development and push the tax amnesty program.
Sri said that this is Mr. Nakao's third visit to Indonesia. "In addition to looking at Indonesia's development progress, he is here to deliver ADB's thoughts and support for us, both in terms of concept and funding," Sri Mulyani said.
Mr. Nakao also plans a meeting with Sri Mulyani and National Development Planning Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro.
