Police Arrest Man Who Carried Desecrated Indonesian Flag

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police on Thursday night, January 19, arrested the man who allegedly carried the desecrated Indonesia's red-and-white flag during a rally staged by the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) at the National Police Headquarters on Monday.
Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono confirmed that his agency has arrested a 20-year-old man, NF, in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. He had joined the rally at the Police HQ, Argo said Friday, January 20. The police spokesman, however, could not confirm whether the man was an FPI member or not.

Currently, Argo said, NF is being questioned at the South Jakarta Police. Police have also collected the evidence of the flag with Arabic writing and the motorcycle used during the rally.
Earlier, a video footage showing a man carried the Indonesian flag bearing Arabic writings and two crossed swords went viral on social media.
