TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to suppress the number of tuberculosis patients. Considering Jakarta is the third most province of the infectious disease. One of the steps taken is to educate the passengers of Transjakarta bus of the danger of tuberculosis disease.

Jakarta Acting Governor Sumarsono disclosed that the tuberculosis disease is the priority of Jakarta Provincial Government for handling. Public transportation is becoming one of the media spread of tuberculosis disease. That is why he supports such educational movement.

"I support it. Indeed, the people’s understanding is still common. Many of the passengers do not wear the mask that quickly spread the bacteria. Mask is a solution," he stated, at City Hall, Wednesday (12/7).

He added, by wearing mask, can reduce the disease. There are at least 10 points of bus stop at corridor 1 (Blok M-Kota) that become target. There are 100 volunteers that will give education to the passenger.

"This is early anticipation of potential transmission. We do not want people with tuberculosis continue to increase. We want Jakarta can be free of this disease," he disclosed.

Through such education, it is hoped people will be more aware of tuberculosis disease, especially those who always use public transportation.

"Perhaps, if we work hard, people will be more alert and aware," he finished.
