TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In a bid to achieve the Rp670-trillion investment target by 2017 and Rp840 trillion by 2018, President Joko Widodo wants a number of capital-intensive investment plans to be realized soon, especially those in the Energy and Mineral Resources Energy.

The president wants to fast-track large investments in oil and gas as well as electricity sectors. For the electricity sector, Jokowi said to do more than just collecting Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), but also make sure that the projects are actualized.

"Our target is not the PPA, but the realization, which leads to capital inflows, field work, and labor absorption," the president said during a plenary meeting on Wednesday, December 7.

In the oil sector, there are three projects worth billions of US dollars that are stalled: the Masela Block project, the East Natuna Block project, and the Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) mega project.

Jokowi said with massive investments, Indonesia's economy in future years will grow more than this year's target of 5.1 percent.

Not just the Energy Ministry, Widodo also instructed other ministries to actuate their projects actively.

Energy Minister Ignasius Jonan said his team is working on simplifying PPA processes to allow faster project actualization.
