TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras) argued that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has neglected his responsibility to uncover Munir's murder case for filed an appeal against the Central Information Commission's (KIP) decision through the State Secretariat.

The KIP's decision that was issued on October 10, 2016, stipulated that the original investigation documents of the case compiled by the fact-finding team (TPF) tasked on the case is considered as public information. "Accordingly, the Government is obliged to immediately disclose the document to the public," Kontras coordinator Haris Azhar said on Sunday, November 27, 2016.

Instead of announcing the documents, the State Secretariat filed for appeal on November 1, 2016, against the decision to the Jakarta Administrative Court, claiming that the institution is not in possession of the documents.

Haris said on October 26, 2016, that former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had handed over a copy of the document to the State Secretariat. "The Government should have no more problems to officially disclose it," Haris said.

Haris suspected that Jokowi is reluctant to solve the case because of possible involvement of people close to him.
