TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan reminded that mass rally can contribute negative impact toward Indonesian economy which currently is slowing due to the situation of global economy.

He added in a press release in Jakarta on Friday (25/11) that the immediate impact of mass rally toward economy is not visible. However, if this continues, it will further harm the people.

"But when (the rally) continues, it’s the people that will suffer. The situation of global economy, as I said, is not good. But, our economy is still growing, and if we create problems by not abiding to the law, people will start questioning how law is enforced in Indonesia," he said in the XVII NU Congress in Jakarta on Friday (25/11).

In addition, Bank Indonesia estimated Rp 2,9 billion economic loss due to the decrease of consumption sector up to 60 percent and other activities as much as 30 percent.
