TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Attorney General Muhammad Prasetyo said he is planning to meet the sixth president of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) over the Fact-Finding Team (TPF) documents of human rights activist Munir Said Thalib’s murder. According to him, he is acting on his own initiative, not under President Joko Widodo’s instruction.

“It’s not true that Pak Jokowi [Joko Widodo] instructed the Attorney General to question SBY. We will meet him instead,” Prasetyo said yesterday at the Presidential Complex.

The TPF had submitted the investigation documents of Munir’s murder case to the then-president Yudhoyono on July 23, 2005. Ten years on, the documents have yet to be disclosed to the public. The Central Information Commission ruled on October 10 that the government shall disclose the documents to the public. Problem arise after the Joko Widodo administration said that the 100-page documents had been missing. President Joko Widodo had instructed the Attorney General to find the missing documents and resolve Munir’s murder case.

Prasetyo said no meeting date has been set. However, he confirmed that he will meet with Yudhoyono. He expects to find the missing documents after the meeting. More so because Yudhoyono said on Tuesday’s press conference that he had the copy of the documents, which would be handed over to the government.

On the copy of the documents, Prasetyo said he would not accept them, citing questionable accuracy. Moreover, he believes that the original documents will be found. “The President has instructed us to find the original documents,” he said. “If the original documents can be found, we will examine them and take the next steps.”
