Go-Jek Acquires India`s Healthcare Service Pianta

TEMPO.CO, New Delhi - Indonesia's startup Go-Jek has acquired a Bangalore-based healthcare service Pianta.
The acquisition is expected to bolster the Indonesian startup’s foray into the healthcare space. “Go-Jek is moving to launch an on-demand healthcare product as the Pianta does,” said Sidu Ponnappa, Managing Director of GoJek Engineering India, as quoted by Economic Times, Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Founded in 2010, Go-Jek has managed an app-based transportation service called ojek or motorbike taxi. The company has ever since diversified into food, grocery, and even courier-delivery services.
In August 2016, the company became the first Indonesian company that obtaining a US$550 million (Rp7 billion) from KKR, Warburg Pincus, Farallon Capital, and Capital Group Private Markets.
Go-Jek does not have any services in India but has an engineering center in Bangalore where it employs 60 people.
After the acquisition, the eight Pianta members will join with the Go-Jek engineering center in Bangalore which will then help the Go-Jek operation in Asia with the total of 60 people.
